My favourite TV personality is CCTV’s Yang Rui. I think he is a very good reporter and he has learned the difficult skill of interviewing important people in a second language. Yang Rui is also very good at asking questions that will reveal the facts and the truth about important issues.

Yang Rui was born in Heilongjiang in 1963. In 1980, he entered Shanghai International Studies University, where he earned degrees in English literature and international journalism. In 1986, Yang Rui started working at China National Radio. In 1988, he moved to China Central Television. In 1993 and 1994, Yang Rui studied abroad and received a Master’s degree in journalism at a British university. Today, he is a senior reporter at CCTV and hosts his own show together with another talented reporter, Zhao Bin.

Dialogue is a news show in which important people are interviewed. Yang Rui is a skilled reporter and enjoys debating current affairs. He is always calm and polite, but he is not afraid to be critical and ask difficult questions. He says that being a TV host is an interesting mix of entertainment and education and he feels he is part showman and part thinker.

I enjoy watching Dialogue and Yang Rui. He is always able to ask informed questions about many different kinds of topics. I am also impressed by his excellent English and his way of communicating with people. In my opinion, Yang Rui is a perfect reporter: he is talented, polite and interested in finding the facts and the truth.
